Emajõe Kaubahall has been the accustomed shopping place for the residents of Tartu ever since the 1980s. In 2001, the façade facing the Küüni Street was renovated in cooperation with architect Peeter Pere. On the first two floors of the four-storey Emajõe Kaubahall (floors 0 and 1), there are stores with a diverse selection giving the guests a reason to visit the shopping centre more frequently. Floor 2 of the Kaubahall is reserved for entertainment: a 150-seat cafeteria and a billiard-saloon second to the continually most popular nightclub in Tartu. Besides, there are varied catering establishments and two beauty-saloons at the service of the guests of Emajõe Kaubahall.
Emajõe Kaubahall is unique primarily due to its favourable location. Ülikooli Street borders the building on one side and the pedestrian street Küüni on the other side being comfortably accessible for both the drivers and pedestrians. The target group of Kaubahall are the inhabitants of Tartu and the students residing in Tartu, the inhabitants of Southern Estonia and tourists. That all has guaranteed the sustainability of Emajõe Kaubahall over the years, and made the tenant premises attractive for merchants and service providers.
